Automation of business processes

We were responsible for providing a PC development service which involved working closely with in-house Business Managers to identify areas worthy of automation.

Working directly with user groups in developing their ideas using a RAD/JAD approach, we built systems to improve the organisation's cost effectiveness and ability to respond to market forces.

This resulted in the successful implementation of networked GUI systems that we developed using Access and Visual Basic, with DB2 and SQL Server data warehouses to:

• manage the pricing of all product ranges and accessories
• collate competitor parts prices and use these to redefine market position
• monitor corporate customer requirements
• interface Access with head office factory systems using Excel
• interface Access with Quark for creation/update of printed showroom price lists
• publish internal costing reports via an Intranet
